Taeguk Poomsae (1-8)
(1). Taegeuk 1 Jang
The first Taegeuk Poomsae(Taegeuk 1 Jang) means the heaven(geon / Yang, Vitality, Starting energy) of the Eight Trigrams, and the 'geon' means heaven and yang. As the geon shows the origin of all, this is the first form of taekwondo. The features are the easiest walk from in the standing postures, and the movement consists of a basic down-blocking, a body-blocking, body- punching, and a front kick. It's a degree 8(easiest level, the lower is the harder) course in taekwondo.
(2). Taegeuk 2 Jang
The second Taegeuk Poomsae(Taegeuk 2 Jang) refers to the pond(Tae / calming energy) of the Eight Trigrams, which means that the Tae is hard inside and soft on the outside. If you train Taegeuk 2 Jang, you will be able to do basic blocking and kick because you have a strong sense of dignity. The new move is the facial punching and adds a lot of front kick moves to familiarize the practitioner's body. It's a degree 7(2nd easiest level, the lower degree is the harder) course in taekwondo.
(3). Taegeuk 3 Jang
The third Taegeuk Poomsae(Taegeuk 3 Jang) refers to the harmony(Yi / social, organizing brightness) of the Eight Trigrams, which represent fire and are hot and bright. It is a process where people can be promoted to the blue belt because they have filled fire of justice and desire for training and practicing. The new movements are one-hand blade striking, one-hand blade body blocking, and the new standing pose is back stance, and the skills are continuous blocking, punching, kicking, and continuous punching. They value the power of skill to block and repel attacks from the enemy quickly. It is a degree 6 course in taekwondo.
(4). Taegeuk 4 Jang
The fourth Taegeuk Poomsae(Taegeuk 4 Jang) refers to the thunder(Jin) of the Eight Trigrams, and the Jin represents the thunderbolt and has great power and dignity. Like the blue belt, there are many high-level skills and movements. The new moves include hand blade body blocking, straight spear finger thrust, Jebi-form neck striking, Sidekick, Body blocking, Nucle Face hit. It is a feature that many movements and back stances to prepare for the sparring. It's a degree 5 course in taekwondo.
(5). Taegeuk 5 Jang
The fifth Taegeuk Poomsae(Taegeuk 5 Jang) refers to the wind(Son) of the Eight Trigrams, and the Son represents the wind and its dignity and calmness depending on the strength of the wind. It's a training stage where you can control the practitioner's strength.
The new movements include Hawk dropping punch, flip-elbow striking, Hawk side punch, Aimed-elbow striking. While in the stances form, Twisted stance, left stance, right stance. As the features, the continuous movement of a body contraption after kicking and lower blocking with a jump is special, and the aimed-strike should be careful not to move the targeting. It is a degree 4 course in taekwondo.
(6). Taegeuk 6 Jang
The sixth Taegeuk Poomsae(Taegeuk 6 Jang) refers to the water(Gam Gwae) of the Eight Trigrams and represents the water that has constant flow and flexibility. The connection of skills should flow like the nature of water, the source of life for all things.
The new movements come with a hand blade face blocking, roundhouse kick, face outer block, Trunk Push Law Block, Palm Heel Middle Block. The cautions of the training should be lower as the length of the palm when you do the wrist block when doing the Palm Heel Middle Block with kicked foot stands forward after round kink, because the areas that are blocked are different. It is a degree 3 course in taekwondo.
(7). Taegeuk 7 Jang
The seventh Taegeuk Poomsae(Taegeuk 7 Jang) refers to the Mountain(Gan Gwae) of the Eight Trigrams and represents the mountain which is stout and firm. If the practitioner becomes the red belt, they can have the weight of strength by the acquisition of an unwavering sense of training faith and skills. The new movements include Hand Blade Low Bock, Palm Heel Supporting Block, Covered Fist, Scissors Block, knee strike, Trunk Puch Blocking, tow fists striking, Cross Underneath Blocking, Backfist Outer Hitting, aimed kick, and Trunk Side Punch. Since the movements vary, it should be trained with a focus on continuousness. It is a degree 2 course in taekwondo.
(8). Taegeuk 8 Jang
The eighth Taegeuk Poomsae (Taegeuk 8 Jang) refers to the Land of the Eight Trigrams and represents yin, land, the root, stability, and beginning and end. As the last Poomsae of pre-black belt practitioner, after the completion of the training, they will get the qualification to participate the black belt test hosted by World Taekwondo Headquarters through a training period of Taegeuk form 1 to 8.
The new movements include Flying Kick, Trunk Cutter Wirst Outer Blocking, Trunk Opposite Punch, Pull The Jaws Punch, Low Forearm Lunge Block, Jump Kick, Elbow Turning Hitting. As cautions of this training, the practitioner should understand the accuracy of the two back steps after kick, the difference between the Flying Kick and Jump Kick and acquiring point. It is a degree 1 course in taekwondo.
