Subject: Global White: Notifications of President's Resignation

At the annual shareholders meeting of Maeil Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., held today, my retirements as president and from the board of directors was formally announced. My successor will be Mr.Park, who is now president of Specialty Steel Co., and one of the founding members of Maechol.

As you may know, I have been with Maechol since it was founded 17 years ago. As such, it has been a privilege and honor to have seen the company grow and acquire a reputation as one of the world's most modern and efficient steel producers.

Thank you very much for the support and courtesies you have extended to me over the years. We could never have achieved as much as we did without your valued help. I trust that your strong link with Maechol will be maintained in the future.

My successor, Mr.Park, is one of the finest and most capable men I know. I would hope that you will extend to him the same support you have given to me.

금일 개최된 매일 철강의 연차 주주 총회에서 저의 사장직 및 중역회로부터의 은퇴가 정식으로 발표되었습니다. 후임은 현 특수 제강 회사 사장이며 매일 철강의 창설 멤버의 한 사람인 박씨가 될 것입니다.

아시리라고 생각합니다만, 저는 매일 철강과는 창립 이래 17년간을 함께 지냈습니다. 따라서 회사가 성장하고 세계에서 가장 현대적이며 가장 효율이 좋은 철강 생산업체의 하나로 명성을 얻는 것을 목격하는 특권과 영광을 누렸습니다.

여러 해에 걸쳐서 격려해주신 데에 대해 감사를 드립니다. 여러분의 지원 없이는 당사도 여기까지의 발전은 없었다고 생각합니다. 금후에도 매일 철강을 잘 부탁드리는 바입니다.
